WORTHINGTON, Ohio — Blade staff writer Taylor Dungjen on Thursday received a statewide Journalist of the Year award from the Public Children Services Association of Ohio for her work writing about related issues.

The PCSAO presented the award to Ms. Dungjen on the third day of the group’s annual conference. Ms. Dungjen was recognized for a series of articles including coverage of the annual 12 Kids of Christmas, an event in which Toledo police officers take children from all over Lucas County on a shopping excursion. The children are selected by case workers from Lucas County Children Services.

Other awards were presented on Thursday for categories including Family of the Year and Children Protection Caseworker of the Year.

On Wednesday, the same group recognized State Rep. Teresa Fedor (D., Toledo) and State Rep. Barbara Sears (R., Monclova Township) for contributions as legislators.

The PCSAO is a nonprofit association of the county public children services agencies across Ohio.
