City of Toledo income tax collections were down just sightly during the first nine months of 2013 compared to the same period last year, the Bell administration said Thursday.

Overall collections from the city's 2.25 percent payroll tax were down 0.53 percent year-to-date on Sept. 30. The city had collected $105.93 million by that point, which is down $564,533 compared to Sept. 30, 2012.

The administration has budgeted to collect nearly $163.88 million in 2013 from the payroll tax, which is the largest source of revenue for the city's general fund and chiefly underwrites city services such as police and fire operations.
