TIFFIN — With a long-term goal of building a courthouse, Seneca County Commissioners this week tentatively agreed to move $300,000 from the general fund to a fund earmarked for courthouse construction.

Seneca County Administrator Stacy Wilson said the board plans to vote on moving the funds when it meets Tuesday.

The need for a new courthouse follows last year’s demolition of the county's historic 1884 courthouse that had been vacant for several years. Commissioners voted 2-1 to tear it down rather than renovate it as a group of preservationists had advocated.
