Richfield Twp. fire levy passes after glitch fixed

Preliminary results show the renewal of a 2.5-mill, five-year fire levy in Richfield Township passing by a comfortable margin in Tuesday’s voting, the Lucas County Board of Elections reported Friday.

Transfer of voting-machine counts from the levy and other voting at the township’s polling place to the elections board's database was delayed by a data-entry glitch, said Meghan Gallagher, the board’s director. With those votes now included, the levy vote was 356 in favor and 162 against.

Including results from Richfield adds 471 votes to the count for the 0.75-percent income tax in the Evergreen school district and alters the unofficial totals for two countywide levies on Tuesday's ballot, but does not affect those issues’ unofficial outcomes, Ms. Gallagher said.

While slightly more than half of Richfield voters opposed the tax, she said, it passed by a greater margin in the Fulton County portion of the Evergreen district.

The total vote in the district was 861 in favor and 695 against, also preliminary results pending certification.
