FBI, IRS agents raid long-time North Toledo business

Internal Revenue Service agents, and the FBI were on the scene at Al Peake & Sons, 4949 Stickney Avenue in North Toledo today.

Agents from the IRS and FBI are at Al Peake & Sons & Daughter Too Food Service in North Toledo.

Special Agent Vicki Anderson from the FBI's Cleveland office said the presence at 4949 Stickney Ave. is an “IRS-led endeavor” but the agency does have agents assisting.

Speaking at the scene in the afternoon, Special Agent Daniel Dever from the IRS' criminal Investigations unit, said he was there "on official business" since this morning. He would not comment further.

Craig Casserly, an IRS spokesman, could not offer details about the today's events because "everything is sealed in federal court."

Mr. Casserly said everything should be finished today. He was not aware of any arrests.

Al Peake & Sons & Daughter Too, a wholesale produce company, used to be located the downtown Warehouse District before moving to an expanded space on Stickney in 2009.

The company describes itself on its Web site as a 3rd generation family owned and operated food supplier.  Much of its business is with locally owned restaurants or cafeterias in nursing homes and hospitals.
