St. Clare Commons, a $40 million continuing-care senior retirement community in Perrysburg, has received all of its permit approvals and is now fully open, its operators, Franciscan Living Communities, announced Monday.

A 56-suite assisted living phase of the complex had opened in October. But St. Clare Commons, at 12469 Five Point Rd., had been awaiting Medicare certification to open 60 skilled nursing units and a 36-bed memory support unit.

The 136,000-square-foot complex has a chapel, two rooftop terrace gardens, a lounge, a community room, a rehabilitation center, library, a Starbucks coffee shop, a piano bar, salon, spa, fitness center, patios, and six dining halls. It employs 125 workers including nurses, housekeepers, maintenance staff, and other support staff.

In planning for over a decade, the complex is owned by a partnership of the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, the Catholic Diocese of Toledo, Sylvania Franciscan Health, Franciscan Living Communities, and Blessed John XXIII parish.
