BOWLING GREEN — A Custar, Ohio, man accused of shooting a man in the back outside his home has been indicted for felonious assault and attempted murder.

Thomas J. Boyer, 53, is to be arraigned Dec. 16 before Wood County Common Pleas Judge Reeve Kelsey. The charges each carry three-year firearms specifications. He was held Thursday in the Wood County jail in lieu of $1 million bond.

Mr. Boyer was arrested Nov. 20 after William Morris III, 42, of Rutland, Ohio, was shot in the back with a shotgun. Wood County Prosecutor Paul Dobson said Mr. Morris and another man had gone to Mr. Boyer’s house about a foreclosure proceeding. “Obviously Mr. Boyer was unhappy with what they said to him, and he went back into his house and came out with a shotgun and the allegation is that he shot the one gentleman while that gentleman was attempting to flee,” Mr. Dobson said.
