12/6/2013

Lucas County Canine Care & Control, formerly the county dog warden's office, will hold an open house from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The event will celebrate the department’s name change and other updates at the 410 S. Erie St. location. Refreshments and door prizes will be offered.

All adoptions finalized during the day will be discounted to half price and new dog owners will receive a special care package. Those who make a purchase from the care center’s new retail area will receive a free bag of treats.

Dog owners who purchase a 2014 license at the event can also receive a $10 microchip, a $5 rabies vaccination, and a free personalized identification tag for their dogs.

Owners who do not purchase a 2014 license can still obtain a microchip or rabies vaccine for $20.
