Collins among mayors to have lunch with Obama

Mayor-elect D. Michael Collins and other incumbent and newly elected mayors will meet President Obama on Friday in Washington, the White House announced today.

"This meeting builds on the unprecedented effort of the administration to partner with mayors working to implement policies that lead to high-paying, high-skill jobs in their communities," the statement from the White House said.

"Mayors understand that smart investments in things like American manufacturing and infrastructure help provide good jobs for middle class families while providing a foundation for long-term economic success."

Mr. Collins said he and the other mayors were invited to lunch.

The other mayors and mayors-elect are expected to attend:

• St. Petersburg, Fla., Mayor-elect Rick Kriseman

• Boston Mayor-elect Martin Walsh
