The Toledo Zoo is offering a special holiday gift for Lucas County residents Dec. 24.
The zoo, on Anthony Wayne Trail, is offering free admission Christmas Eve to visitors who can show proof of residency in Lucas County. The zoo will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
According to zoo public relations officials, the deal is in appreciation for residents voting to renew the zoo’s tax levy that helps provide funding for basic operations like caring for the more than 6,000 animals there.
The “Lights Before Christmas” will be closed Dec. 24 and 25, but will continue until Dec. 31.
