Ohio Turnpike traffic back to normal after lanes reopen

12/20/2013

ELMORE - All lanes of the Ohio Turnpike have reopened after emergency crews closed it to tend to a burning electrical pole on State Route 51.

Authorities say they are unsure why the pole was burning, but that live lines were down and so the turnpike was closed in both directions near Exit 81, Elmore, at about 6:30 p.m. today as a safety precaution, according to Ohio Highway Patrol officials.

No injuries were reported.

During the closure, eastbound drivers were being routed off Exit 91 in Fremont, and westbound drivers were being routed off the I-280 exit.
