Metroparks of the Toledo Area will mow portions of the Fallen Timbers Battlefield property this winter to ready for spring tree planting.

The parks system’s management plan calls for native trees to be planted at the roughly 120-acre site at a rate of about 25 acres per year. Oak and hickory seeds already have been planted by volunteers on 10 acres.

Mowing will limit non-native plants but preserve native trees.
