Officials say no danger from gasoline leak

McCUTCHENVILLE, Ohio — An overnight evacuation of about 50 households and businesses after gasoline leaked into the storm water system and vapors were detected in residences, was lifted Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

The evacuation, which started Wednesday night, was lifted about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, by which time it had been determined that there was no danger anymore, McCutchenville Fire Chief BJ Ford said. The incident remained under investigation.

McCutchenville firefighters went door-to-door late Wednesday with monitoring devices. The source of the fuel leak was not reported.

The American Red Cross set up a shelter late Wednesday in Trinity United Church of Christ on State Rt. 53.
