Sylvania rec manager Katafias to retire

Ken Katafias, operations manager for the Sylvania Recreation Corporation, told the corporation’s board last week he will retire April 30.

The 61-year-old Toledo resident has been operations manager for the recreation corporation for 20 years. In that role he oversaw Pacesetter Park, Centennial Terrace, the Quarry, and Sylvania’s Veteran’s Memorial Park.

Mr. Katafias also serves as a member of the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association, where he was formerly a board member, and the National Recreation and Parks Association with the status of Certified Parks & Recreation Professional.
