The Ohio Parks and Recreation Association gave the Metroparks of Toledo’s Volunteer Roving Interpreter program top honors at a recent awards ceremony.

The Volunteer Roving Interpreter program was awarded first place in the Environmental and Interpretive Programs category at the annual Awards of Excellence, held at the Kalahari Conference Center in Sandusky from Feb. 2 to Feb. 5.

The program began at Wildwood Metropark last summer, and will resume again in the spring. It entails volunteers greeting visitors to Wildwood Metropark, while also informing them about its natural surroundings.
