Craig Memorial Bridge to close through March 26
3/4/2014The Craig Memorial Bridge will be closed through March 26 so workers can paint its draw span, Ohio Department of Transportation officials said.
Cold, snowy weather delayed that part of the painting work, which was to be done by mid-March.
Traffic will be detoured to the Martin Luther King, Jr., Bridge via Summit and Front streets.
Another alternative is the I-280 Veterans’ Glass City Skyway and Greenbelt Parkway.
Once the bridge reopens, lanes will close intermittently, because painting of the fixed portion of the bridge continues into October.
Initial plans were for the Craig Bridge to be open when the Anthony Wayne Bridge closes March 17 for a 19-month major overhaul. That project is to include replacing two truss spans on the suspension bridge’s approaches.
An informational meeting about the closing of the High Level Bridge is set for 6 p.m. today at the East Toledo Family Cen-ter, 1020 Varland Ave.
