The Lucas County Metropolitan Housing Authority warns residents that someone impersonating an LMHA employee has been fraudulently trying to collect cash deposits for Section 8 vouchers.

Officials said that LMHA never sends staff to collect cash deposits for any program or service.

Ivory Mathews, LMHA's deputy executive director, said at least two residents reported they’d been visited by the impersonator, who showed a made-up identification card. No one turned over money to the person, but the matter has been reported to Toledo police, she said.

Ms. Mathews asked any resident who receives a suspicious request for money or deposits on behalf of LMHA to call her at 419-259-9540.
