Toledo Mud Hens turf manager Jake Tyler uses a snow thrower as he and Justin Adkins turn snow on the infield tarp at Fifth Third Field into slush and water. Mr. Tyler said they’ve never had to deal with this much snow still on the field as the Hens’ home opener looms April 4. Mr. Tyler said they were using hot water to melt the snow on the tarp Friday so they could remove it and allow the dirt underneath to dry. They will let the snow in the outfield melt naturally.
