Area Service Employees union officer accused

A local union officer has been charged in federal court for allegedly omitting information in financial documents.

A statement of information was filed Thursday in U.S. District Court against Rena Opre, 58, of Toledo. Ms. Opre is accused of failing to disclose a “material fact” in a financial report for the Service Employees International Union, Local 323.

The report was filed in 2010 for the union’s financial statement in the prior year.
