March goes out like a lamb in Glass City

Monday’s 63-degree high temperature at Toledo Express Airport was the warmest since a 66-degree day Nov. 17 and the first reading above 60 since a 61-degree high Dec. 5.
But the morning low of 27 helped keep March as a whole much colder than normal. The 28.6-degree average daily mean temperature tied the month just ended for sixth place on Toledo’s list of coldest for March — and the coldest since 1984 (27.6 degrees for second place).
Toledo’s 11.8 inches of snow during the month did not make the Top 10 list for the month, but it built the record-breaking snowfall of 2013-14 to 85.3 inches, a full 11 inches more than the old record from 1977-78.
The Toledo area often gets a bit of snow in April, of course, so the snowfall total is not officially final.
A storm expected to spread over northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan during the week’s second half was forecast Monday to be mostly a rainmaker, but a few snowflakes could mix into the precipitation at night, especially on Friday, according to the National Weather Service office in Cleveland.
Forecasters expected scattered showers this morning in Toledo, followed by increasing sunshine with a high in the upper 50s.
