Swanton hit-skip victim dies day after crash

SWANTON — A woman struck by a hit-skip driver died Friday in Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, authorities said.

Haylee Michelle Brandt, 30, of Swanton was flown by medical helicopter to St. Vincent after the Wednesday night incident. An autopsy is scheduled for today, said Dr. Cynthia Beisser, Lucas County deputy coroner.

Troopers at the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Toledo post said Ms. Brandt was walking north along the right edge of Main Street near Valleywoods Drive in Swanton when she was struck by a northbound car driven by Rebecca Sue Yarberry, 20, of Toledo.

Ms. Yarberry drove away and later reported to Swanton police that she knew about the crash.
