The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received two bullet and stab-proof vests for its dog units.

Dogs Ranger and Jack, who work with deputies Rob Moody and Jeremy Peters, respectively, will receive the armor from Vested Interest in K9s Inc., a Massachusetts nonprofit.

The vests, each costing about $950, have five-year warranties.

Vested Interest in K9’s Inc. will provide over 350 law enforcement dogs nationwide with protective body armor in memory of K9 Rocco of the Pittsburgh Police Department who was killed in the line of duty in January. Anyone interested in donating to Vested Interest in K9’s can visit vik9s.org.
