Indictment for murder returned in beating case

A Toledo man charged in the fatal beating of another man was indicted Wednesday by a Lucas County grand jury.

Jerome Carter, 26, of 930 Islington St. was indicted for murder and felonious assault in connection with the April 12 assault on Jeffrey Miller-Lee, 27. Police said the victim was repeatedly punched and kicked in his head and body then thrown 8 feet onto a sidewalk outside 417 Cumberland Place. Mr. Miller-Lee died April 15 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center after being removed from life support.

Jeff Lingo, chief of the criminal division for the Lucas County Prosecutor’s Office, declined to comment on a possible motive.
