Toledo Zoo named best in the U.S.
5/21/2014The Toledo Zoo today was named the best in the United States.
The zoo was one of 20 nominees for the top title in USA Today Travel‘s 10 Best Readers’ Choice contest. Voting ended Monday.
The contest manager said the Toledo Zoo won its category by a “significant margin” and that there had never been such a high level of participation in any previous years of the contest.
Jeff Sailer, the zoo‘s executive director, praised the community’s effort in voting for the Toledo Zoo.
“I consider this a win, not just for the zoo, but for the whole region,” Mr. Sailer said.
Three other Ohio zoos made the top 20 list: Cincinnati was third, Columbus was fifth, and Cleveland was twelfth. The full contest results are available online at 10best.com/awards/travel/best-us-zoo.
