Today’s Memorial Day parade in Toledo will step off at 10 a.m. from Summit Street and wind its way near the Civic Center Mall at Michigan Street for a memorial service starting about 11:30 a.m. Grand marshal for the parade and guest speaker at the service will be Lt. Commander Vidal Valentin, commanding officer of the Navy Operational Support Center in the Toledo area.

Several streets will be closed early for the parade until about noon. At 8 a.m., Summit Street will close between Lafayette and Adams streets, Monroe Street will close between Huron and Summit streets, Washington Street will close between Superior and Summit streets, and Jefferson Avenue will close between Summit and St. Clair. At 9 a.m., Constitution Avenue will close between Erie Street and the city parking lot entrance.

At 9:15 a.m., the Summit closing will extend to Cherry Street, Jackson Street will close between Summit and Spielbusch Avenue, St. Clair will close between Adams and Jackson, and Huron, Superior, and Erie will close between Adams and Beech.
