Customers who get The Blade delivered to their homes can now get an added benefit — a 52-week Digital Premium Subscription to the Washington Post.

The Post is one of the most respected newspapers in the United States, having won more than 50 Pulitzer Prizes.

“It’s going to be a nice addition that our current subscribers can access for free,” said Dick Fuller, The Blade’s director of circulation.

Blade print subscribers already get unlimited access to all of The Blade’s digital products, including the eBlade, which is an electronic replica of that day’s print edition. Now they also can get 24/7 access to the Washington Post via computer, smart phone, and tablet.

The Post has Web-only and mobile-only features that take readers deeper into stories that they care about. For tablet users, the Post offers more than 40 comic strips and a complete electronic replica of The Post’s print edition.

Blade officials said the benefit is worth more than $100.

“For a good newspaper reader ... this is a way to give them a little bit more coverage,” Mr. Fuller said. “For people who are really into politics or some of the other things the Post does well, this will complement what they are getting in The Blade.”

The Washington Post is partnering with papers around the country, but The Blade is among the first to roll out the program. The Post hopes it attracts more visitors to its Web site.

Digital-only subscribers to The Blade are not eligible for the offer.

Current Blade print subscribers will get an email invitation to register for the Post subscription. No credit card information is needed. The customer can log in using a Facebook account or by providing an email address and password.

If subscribers do not receive the email invitation for any reason, they can visit toledoblade.com/perks or call customer service at 419-724-6300. The customer service desk is open until 2 p.m. weekdays and until 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
