FREMONT — Bond has been set at $100,000 for a man accused of biting a Fremont police officer during a scuffle last week at a May Street home.

Ijar Darden, 36, of Fremont and Officer George Dorsey were both treated at ProMedica Fremont Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Darden was arraigned Thursday in Fremont Municipal Court on a charge of felonious assault and remained in the Sandusky County jail Friday in lieu of bond pending a preliminary hearing Tuesday.

Police said Officer Darden was investigating a report of a disturbance at the home June 20 when Mr. Darden became combative and bit the officer in the forearm as he assisted emergency medical personnel who were carrying the accused down a stairway.

Police then used a Taser gun to subdue Mr. Darden.
