A North Toledo woman was arraigned Wednesday on a charge of aggravated robbery for the holdup Tuesday of a Sylvania Township bank.

Diona Ellis, 26, of 231 Amber Ct., remains in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $100,000 bond after her arraignment Wednesday in Sylvania Municipal Court by Judge Scott Ramey.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Wednesday. The charge is a first-degree felony and carries a penalty of three to five years in prison and a fine up to $20,000.

Ms. Ellis is accused of robbing the Woodforest Bank inside the Walmart on Central Avenue at about 6:45 p.m.

No weapon was seen by the teller, police said. Cash was taken and recovered, Sylvania Township Deputy Chief Ray Carroll said, but he declined to disclose the amount.

It was not clear whether the suspect fled on foot or in a vehicle.

About an hour later, Sylvania Township police arrested the suspect in a car with her two children and a relative at Dorr Street, near Richards Road, in West Toledo. The relative was driving. Police said no one else in the car is a suspect in the case.

Federal charges have not been filed. Vicki Anderson, FBI special agent, said township police are taking the lead on the case.
