Lima man dies in crash as a driver flees police
7/26/2014LIMA, Ohio — A 21-year-old Lima man was killed Friday when a car in which he was a passenger was struck by another vehicle that was fleeing pursuing officers, Lima police reported.
At 12:48 a.m. Lima police attempted to stop a vehicle for suspicious activity at Kibby Street and McPheron Avenue. The driver of the car fled, leading police on a high-speed chase and running a red light at Kibby and Central Avenue.
The chase ended there when the suspect’s car crashed into the car carrying Devontae Williams. He was taken to St. Rita Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The juvenile driver of the vehicle that fled police also was treated for minor injuries.
