Tornado, thunderstorm watches issued for area counties

A tornado watch now through 9 p.m. today has been issued by the National Weather Service for several counties in northwest Ohio, including Lucas, Wood, Ottawa, Erie, Hancock, Seneca, and Sandusky.

Thunderstorms today and tonight have the potential to be severe with large hail, damaging, winds, and locally heavy rainfall. A tornado is possible.

The weather service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m. today for Allen, Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert, and Williams counties where there is the potential for a few isolated thunderstorms that could produce damaging wind gusts and large hail, according to the weather service.
