Police try to ID remains found in Monroe County

BLADE STAFF

MONROE — Human remains were found Wednesday in Monroe Township, according to Michigan State Police.

The remains have not been identified and the investigation is ongoing, officials said. Troopers from the Monroe post of the MSP and two state police K-9 teams were out Wednesday searching near a quarry at Telegraph and Dunbar roads looking for Jamie Rachelle West, a Monroe Township woman reported missing. Officials were searching near the quarry based on information provided by the woman’s family.

Law enforcement officials are working with the medical examiner's office and a forensic anthropologist to analyze the remains to identify the individual and a cause of death.
