PAULDING, Ohio — Paulding County authorities arrested a Defiance man Friday in the 1981 murder of an Oakwood, Ohio, woman.

A grand jury Thursday indicted Steven G. Noffsinger, 58, on aggravated murder charges in the Dec. 17, 1981, homicide of Alma Rosa Noffsinger, 29, who was found beaten to death in her home at 108 N. Fifth St.

Sheriff Jason Landers, who did not return calls seeking comment on the case Friday, assigned two detectives to the cold case in 2012. He praised Deputy Rob Garcia and Lt. Brion Hanenkratt for their dedication to the investigation.

The case was aided by investigators from the TNT show Cold Justice, which plans to air an episode on the murder Friday.

The show’s Web site says Alma Noffsinger was recently divorced from Steven G. Noff-singer at the time of her death.
