Wildlife rehab center’s open house today
8/17/2014Nature’s Nursery Center for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation Education is having a free open house today.
From 1 to 4 p.m., visitors to the center in the Blue Creek Conservation Area in Whitehouse can take a tour, speak with staff, participate in educational programs and demonstrations, and meet some of the nonprofit’s animal ambassadors.
Refreshments and activities for children will be available, and Nature’s Nursery merchandise will be for sale.
The donation-funded organization provides medical care to injured, orphaned, and sick native wild animals.
The center serves an 18-county region, answering more than 200 calls per week and caring for nearly 3,000 native animals per year.
The center rehabilitates and releases more than 60 percent of them back into the wild. It also conducts conservation and educational outreach programs for both children and adults.
