A Toledo man who was under the influence when he struck a motorcyclist from behind pleaded no contest Wednesday to vehicular assault for the June 19, 2013 crash.

Harry Walker, 47, of 533 Crawford St. faces up to 18 months in prison and a five-year driver’s license suspension when he is sentenced Sept. 24 by Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Gary Cook.

Ian English, an assistant Lucas County prosecutor, told the court that a motorcycle driven by then-22-year-old Chase Monhollen of Toledo was stopped at a red light on Alexis Road at Tremainsville about 2 a.m. when the light turned green, and Walker, who was traveling behind Mr. Monhollen in the same direction and the same lane, failed to slow down and struck and injured Mr. Monhollen.

A urine sample taken from Walker showed he had marijuana in his system as well as alcohol, although his alcohol level was below the legal limit, Mr. English said.
