Voter turnout in Lucas County has jumped to 25 percent as of late this afternoon after a slow start this morning.

The turnout, though, is not expected to surpass the 46 percent of Lucas County residents who voted in the last governor's race in 2010.

Gina Marie Kaczala, the county elections director, said no major problems have been reported at the county's voting locations throughout the day.

During the late afternoon, though, three polling locations lost power but stayed operational during the time with the use of generators.

As of 9 a.m. today, only 6.5 percent of voters had cast a ballot. There are a little more than 302,000 registered voters in Lucas County.

In Monroe County, elections clerk Laura Keehn reported that voting turnout was heavy across the county, although she could not yet provide any voter numbers.

Polls are open in Ohio until 7:30 tonight, and they stay open until 8 p.m. in Michigan.
