Alleged store robber struck Rite Aid staff

Police said a Toledo woman repeatedly hit a central Toledo store employee with her purse during a robbery and was later arrested.

Iris Smith, 54, of 3822 Revere Dr. was arraigned Wednesday on a robbery charge in Toledo Municipal Court. She was released from jail on $5,000 bond.

On May 17, a woman left the Rite Aid at 3013 Monroe St. with stolen items. She then struggled with a loss prevention employee and knocked the employee to the ground with her purse, police said.

The customer entered her vehicle and nearly hit the Rite Aid worker. A security camera captured their interaction.
