Last fall's levy would have generated $1.093 million a year for the Olander Park System.

A committee of five has formed to try and make the Olander Park System’s next attempt to pass a levy a success.

The move comes after a missed deadline kept a proposed 0.8-mill property tax levy — which accounts for most of the park district’s budget — off the ballot last year. It would have generated $1.093 million a year for the system.

Olander Park Executive Director Erika Buri along with Sylvania City Council member Mark Luetke, Sylvania Township Trustee Neal Mahoney, and community members Bonnie Hunter and Kate Fineske are fine-tuning ballot language for this year’s November election.

The committee has yet to determine what amount the request should be for and if the levy should remain a five-year proposal, or longer. All recommendations need the approval of park commissioners, who anticipate weighing in at next month’s board meeting.
