An equipment failure Sunday evening caused about 4,800 Toledo Edison customers in the Perrysburg area to lose service for more than an hour, according to utility spokesman Neil Keating.

The outage occurred about 8 p.m., Mr. Keating said. He said “a large area” of the city was affected, adding that he was unable to say what part of Perrysburg was hit the hardest.

Utility crews fixed the problem by rerouting the power, restoring the service to all of the 4,818 affected by 9:24 p.m, according to the spokesman.

The exact cause of the outage remains under investigation.
