Unions representing Toledo firefighters and supervisory and technical workers have approved tentative contracts with the city that call for base pay increases in each of the agreements’ three years.

The pacts call for a 1.5 percent base pay increase in the first year; a 2.5 percent increase in the second, and a 3 percent increase in the third. The firefighters’ contract allows the city to reassign six communications bureau lieutenants to line operations, with civilians taking their place. In exchange, the city agrees to increase payment to the firefighters’ “career enhancement program.”

Members of Local 2058, American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, ratified their agreement Wednesday. The unit represents 225 employees, mainly professional, technical, and supervisory workers across several city divisions. The previous contract expired May 31.

Members of Firefighters Local 92, which includes more than 500 firefighters, paramedics, lieutenants, and captains, ratified the agreement Friday. The previous contract expired Dec. 31, 2017.

The Kapszukiewicz administration recommended Friday that Toledo City Council approve the agreements. Council in April approved a three-year contract with the Toledo Police Patrolman’s Association that includes pay raises at the same percentage level as the tentative deals.
