B.G. man is arrested in hit-skip bike accident

BOWLING GREEN -- A local man has been arrested in a hit-skip accident that hurt a bicyclist.

Jerry Eschedor, Jr., 43, was charged with aggravated vehicular assault for a crash Sunday in which Caleb J. Roberts, 19, was injured. Mr. Roberts, a student at Bowling Green State University, was taken to Wood County Hospital and then transferred to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. He was in fair condition at the Toledo Hospital late Tuesday.

According to Bowling Green police, Mr. Roberts was riding a bicycle in the 800 block of 4th Street about 11:15 p.m. Sunday when he was struck by a Ford Explorer. The driver parked the vehicle and fled. Police later located Mr. Eschedor, who allegedly confessed to police.

Police said alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
