The official Web site for the city of Northwood was hacked Sunday by someone who claimed to be affiliated with the group Anonymous to protest the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act that is before Congress.

The measure, which passed the House Thursday 248-168, would allow the federal government work with private companies to fight hackers and cybercriminals. The Senate has not taken up the measure.

The Northwood has a portrayal of Guy Fawkes holding a sign that reads “This site is going blackout on April 22, Stop C.I.S.P.A. We Want Internet Freedom.”

A Northwood police dispatcher said the city’s police chief was aware of the change and was attempting to take down the hacked page.

Mayor Mark Stoner declined to comment.

A random check of Web sites for Toledo and surrounding communities found no other hacked Web sites.
