Two men in a group of at least four who allegedly robbed a cab driver and tried to rob a 71-year-old woman Friday in North Toledo face robbery and other charges.

Arvell Harris, 18, of 420 Elder Dr. and Kesean Harris, 21, of 110 W. Streicher St. were both charged with aggravated robbery and robbery and arraigned Monday in Toledo Municipal Court.

Arvell Harris also is charged with felonious assault and his bond was set at $225,000. Kesean Harris also is charged with obstructing official business and his bond was set at $150,000. Both remained in the Lucas County jail later Monday.

According to court documents, a Black & White Cab driver was called to a home in the 1000 block of Baker Street. There, a woman distracted the cabbie while several men approached. One put a gun to the driver's head and robbed him of cash.

One member of the group ordered another to shoot the driver and several shots were fired as the taxi driver drove off. No injuries were reported.

A 71-year-old woman told police she was leaving church when three men approached her at New Covenant Church, 2519 Stickney Ave., and tried to take her purse.

The woman said she held onto the bag while one of the men pulled her to the ground. The suspects fled after the woman fell on top of her purse. She was treated for “minor injuries,” police said.

After Arvell Harris was arrested Kesean Harris allegedly approached the police vehicle, the court records state. The officer wrote that he stopped Kesean Harris before he could talk to Arvell Harris or let him out of the cruiser.
