Children get chance to meet local wildlife
Perched on the gloved arm of a Nature’s Nursery Center volunteer, a great horned owl watched the crowd of children and adults at the Toledo Botanical Garden. Natalie Miller pointed out his sharp talons, the eponymous feather tufts on either side of his head, and his quarter-sized yellow eyes as she held onto the bird’s leash.

ODOT delays project over tree protest
PETTISVILLE, Ohio — A controversial state project to remove dozens of trees along residential streets in Pettisville to add sidewalks and improve school crosswalks will be delayed a week to allow time to find a way to save some of the doomed trees, transportation officials said Sunday.

Perrysburg pool to open Saturday
The city of Perrysburg is opening its municipal pool Saturday for the summer. The pool is open daily from 1 to 8:30 p.m., with toddler time from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday through Friday. The pool will be open until Aug. 17, the Saturday before Perrysburg Schools start.

Construction firm owner builder as child
Fred W. Bostleman, founder of the Bostleman Corp. that was among Toledo’s largest general construction firms, died Sunday at Kingston Assisted Living in Sylvania. He was 92.

3 Archbold residents hurt in 2-car accident
ARCHBOLD — Three Archbold residents were injured in a two-vehicle crash Sunday in Fulton County’s German Township, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol, which was continuing to investigate the crash.
