City Council OKs $9.4M to purchase more land
Toledo City Council on Tuesday gave Mayor D. Michael Collins approval to spend nearly $10 million to buy the 58-acre former Southwyck Shopping Center property and more than 32 acres in North Toledo that could be a step toward gathering parcels Chrysler Group LLC needs to expand its factory. Council voted 12-0 in favor of issuing $6.2 million in notes to acquire 4.1 acres that make up the former MedCorp site in North Toledo plus the 28-acre former Textileather Corp. plant property on Twining Street near the Jeep plant.
