SAN FRANCISCO — The name of a girl who died of injuries suffered in the crash-landing of an Asiana Airlines flight in San Francisco recently has emerged.

San Mateo County Coroner Robert Foucrault on Saturday confirmed 15-year-old Liu Yipeng’s (LEE’-ow EE’-peng) identity and said the girl was still in her seat when she was rescued last week.

Chinese state media has reported that she went to school with the other two victims killed in the crash. They were both 16.

Liu Yipeng’s name was first reported in the U.S. by KGO-TV in San Francisco.

She died Friday morning at San Francisco General Hospital where she had been in critical condition since the July 6 accident.

On Chinese social media sites, friends and strangers have left condolences and lit virtual candles on what is believed to be her micro blog.
