WELLINGTON, New Zealand — New Zealand officials say a citizen was killed in November during a counter-terrorism operation in Yemen.

Stephen Parker, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, confirmed the man was a joint citizen of New Zealand and Australia. He said he could not provide further details about the man at this time.

In a statement, the ministry said the man’s next of kin have been informed. The ministry said it would not discuss the details of the counter-terrorism operation and that it never discussed such details.

In its statement, the ministry reminded New Zealanders that it has a travel advisory warning its citizens not to travel to Yemen due to the volatile security situation there, which includes a high threat from terrorism and the risk of kidnapping.
