Monroe police investigate possible drowning

MONROE — Monroe police today are investigating a possible drowning in Plum Creek, authorities said.

The victim, a 47-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His name is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

The man was found face down in the creek near his residence about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a written statement police released today .

Once he was pulled from the creek, CPR and other life saving measures failed, police said. An autopsy is pending.
