Toledo Municipal Court and Federal District Court in downtown Toledo.
A Toledo man who admitted to robbing two local businesses at gunpoint was sentenced Thursday to 27 years in a federal prison.
U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Helmick imposed the lengthy term on Donell Davis, 23, who pleaded guilty to two counts of interference with commerce by threats or violence and one count each of using a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence and felon in possession of a firearm.
The charges stemmed from robberies Sept. 22 at Happy’s Pizza, 513 Dorr St., and Oct. 12 at MetroPCS, 1130 W. Bancroft St., as well as Davis’ prior felony convictions for participation in a criminal gang, aggravated assault, and attempted failure to comply with the order of a police officer.
Co-defendant Leeza Parker, 22, of Toledo, pleaded guilty to two counts of interference with commerce by threats or violence for the same two holdups. On July 10, Judge Helmick sentenced her to 33 months in prison.
