University of Toledo, ProMedica announce nursing partnership
9/6/2018The University of Toledo College of Nursing and ProMedica announced Thursday they will enter a partnership for clinical services and education in the Toledo region.
The collaboration, which is in its early stages, would create opportunities for UT nursing students to train at ProMedica facilities, research for staff from both entities, and professional development at the university for ProMedica staff.
The partnership also looks to grow and retain local talent to help address a nationwide nursing shortage.
“Strengthening the University’s partnership with ProMedica provides exciting opportunities to expand clinical training opportunities for our nursing students and to increase academic-clinical collaboration to advance nursing education, research and practice,” said UT President Sharon Gaber, in statement.
Though there is no formal agreement in place such as the academic affiliation signed in 2015 by ProMedica and UT’s College of Medicine and Life Sciences, which is the former Medical College of Ohio, ProMedica President and CEO Randy Oostra called the new nursing partnership is a “natural extension” to build on the entities’ existing relationship.
“It reflects our shared commitment to developing northwest Ohio into a premier hub of medical education and clinical care,” he said in a statement.
