As a further indication that President Obama’s Labor Day speech at Scott High School will touch on his auto bailout, United Auto Workers Local 12 announced that its members may pick up tickets beginning at noon today.

Doors for the Scott speech will open at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The Obama campaign confirmed this afternoon that the speech will begin at 12:30 p.m.

UAW tickets for the event may be picked up until 6 p.m. today at the Local 12 hall at 2300 Ashland Ave. on a first-come, first-served basis.

President Obama originally planned to travel from Toledo to Cleveland for a rally there, but that trip was canceled today because he plans to travel to Louisiana to meet with local officials. While there, he will also view response and recovery efforts to Hurricane Isaac.

Mr. Obama’s appearances are part of a swing-state tour of Iowa, Colorado, Ohio, and Virginia on his way to accepting the Democratic nomination for a second term in North Carolina on Sept. 6. All five states supported him in 2008 but are considered very much in play this year.

The President will arrive in Toledo on Sunday from Boulder, Colo., and will spend the night here before Monday’s event.

There has been no indication yet whether the President hopes to participate in the Toledo Labor Day parade itself.
